Glen Rock United is excited to launch the reimagined Pre-Travel Academy, a supplemental soccer program designed for enthusiastic 1st and 2nd grade boys and girls who are ready for more soccer and development beyond the weekend clinic.
No tryouts are required—this program is open to any player who is also enrolled in one of the 1st grade or 2nd grade weekend clinics. If your child loves soccer and is eager to play more, the Pre-Travel Academy is a great next step!
The program includes:
– One additional one-hour training session each week, led by our experienced training staff
– Participation in two or three soccer festivals, giving players the opportunity to experience real games in a fun, age-appropriate setting
– Pre-Travel Academy jersey
The Pre-Travel Academy is the perfect next step for young players who are enthusiastic about soccer and want to start building the skills, confidence, and teamwork habits that lead into the travel program.
We look forward to seeing your child grow, learn, and enjoy the game with us!

Program FAQ's
What is the Pre-Travel Academy?
The Pre-Travel Academy is an optional program for 1st and 2nd grade boys and girls who are already enrolled in the weekend clinic and are looking for additional soccer development. It includes one extra weekly training session led by a professional trainer, focusing on skill-building, basic tactics, and improving overall game understanding in a fun, supportive environment.
In addition to weekly practices, teams will have the opportunity to participate in one or more soccer festivals—small, friendly tournaments—based on the group’s skill level, performance, and player availability. The program is a great way for young players to gain more experience and prepare for future travel soccer.
When and Where are the Practices?
Spring 2026 training days are still being finalized, but are expected to be midweek after school.
How much does it cost?
The Spring Pre-Travel Academy is $95 in addition to the standard registration fee.
Who is Eligible?
Any 1st or 2nd grade player currently registered for either the 1st or 2nd grade weekend clinic programs with Glen Rock United this spring.
How Many Teams will there be?
We are looking to field at least one boys' team and one girl's team. Team registrations are first come, first served. If there is enough interest, we will form additional teams.
What is the Commitment?
Players are expected to attend most, if not all, sessions throughout the season. While we understand that occasional absences may happen, consistent attendance helps create a stronger, more productive training environment for everyone. A full group at practice allows for better drills, more game-like scenarios, and improved team development.
We also encourage as many players as possible to participate in the soccer festivals, as these events are a key part of the learning and team experience.
Soccer Festivals are mentioned above. What are those?
Soccer festivals are small mini-tournaments. Teams play 4 v 4 or 5 v 5 against teams from other clubs. At each festival, teams are expected to play three, 18-minute games in a one hour period.
What about the Spring?
For interested players who participated in the Fall Pre-Travel Academy, we will look to form small 4 v 4 teams who will participate in the Northern Counties league (ncsanj.com) in the Spring.
